The Bull’s Head has been a Black Mountains landmark for many years. A traditional Drovers Inn and Farmhouse, it is a place steeped in history. From the traditional ‘Hole in The Wall’ Bar to the flagstone floors The Bull’s head is a true representation of what makes this area unique.
There is a cosy bar area to have a quiet drink, a dining room with an open fire, a beer garden overlooking the Black Mountains and four bespoke cabins to rest your head at night.
We focus on ingredient led cooking, with most of our produce either coming straight off our farm our from our local network of small producers.

A La Carte Menu
Book a table in the restaurant and come enjoy our flagship a la carte menu. This menu showcases the best seasonal produce and consists largely of items sourced from our regenerative farm in Longtown.
This menu encapsulates the essence of our farm-to-table ethos and provides the full Bull’s Head experience, which was recognised by the Michelin Guide.
Sunday Menu
On Sundays we offer a fixed price menu, showcasing the best seasonal produce from our regenerative farm.
We work closely with our in-house butcher to select the best cuts for that week, which we cook over the coals and serve to your table with sharing style sides.

Drinks List
Our Drinks list is straightforward and celebrates producers that we believe are doing things the right way. Featuring low intervention wines, local ciders and of course great Herefordshire Ales.

Menu Timings
We serve lunch on Friday and Saturday from 12:30pm - 3:00pm.
We serve dinner Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 6pm - 9pm.
We serve Sunday lunch from 12:00pm - 3:30pm.
We advise booking in advance to avoid disappointment, however if you are just stopping in for a drink, or between services, we also offer snacks in the bar area.
Dogs at The Pub
We allow dogs in the bar and outdoor area, but not for tables booked in the restaurant. The restaurant is a fairly small space and we want to be considerate of other customers choosing to dine with us, who may not love dogs as much as we do.

About the walk
The Black Hill is one of the most beautiful and impressive walks in the Black Mountains. Also known as the Cat’s Back, this route links on to the Offa’s Dyke path on the border of England and Wales with some of the most incredible views over the Olchon Valley and Golden Valley into Herefordshire and beyond. Walking the Black Hill from The Bull’s Head pub car park takes around 3 hours and is a moderate route.
Turn left out of the pub car park, follow the path up the bridal way on the right a few yards down the road. Gently climb up through the sunken lane, and turn left at the top, following the footpath for 1.5 miles, taking the higher path at any forks. Go on through the gate towards the Black Hill picnic spot for another 1 mile, then turn right and head up the steep slope. Follow the path up through the rocks and along the ridge to the Black Hill trig point.
Keep going for roughly ¼ mile beyond the trig point, keeping an eye out for a track on your right that descends back down into the valley (almost going back on yourself). Follow the path down for around 1 mile towards the fence line. Continue right, keeping to the path along the fence line until you reach the gate that you previously came through at the top of the sunken lane. Head back along the path to return to The Bull’s Head pub.
